Hummm just got the truck a month ago... I'll put some pics on here, who knows maybe I do have some type of lift on it

 

Hey i have a 00 durango with stock suspension. I curently have 31x10.5 r 15 tires on and i was looking to get some larger tires on it that still do really good in the snow seeing as how i have to deal with alot of snow were i live.

 

you cant put bigger tires on the truck w/o lifting it. 31 is the largest diameter that will fit w/o a lift

 

Finaly after a hole summer and going on vacation and all...

I had 33x12.5x15 Firestones M/S and no lift what so ever... 2001 Durango and a part from a little rubbing when I completly turn my wheels no prob what so ever!

But I just got myself some new wheels... 17x8 Eagle Alloy 140 series... while be looking on getting some new tires and then maybe finaly lift the truck

 

no you dont it is not physically possible without some kind of lift, the p.o. must have put a lift on it to fit that kind of rubber in there

 

Yeah 33" your gonna get a whole lot of rubbing that is if they even get the wheel on. There had to be a lift because I wanted 33" but the tire place I went to (reputable dealer) put the tires next to the wheel and said no way without a lift. I have 31" and happy with them with no rub.

 

I agree that anything above the manufacturer's max size tire and wheel combo for the 98-03 Durango is the 31X10.5X15. The available lifts are from Fabtech which is no longer available but was a 2 in lift. The only other viable lift kit currently on the market is a tuff country lift that is a 5.5 in the front and a 5 in the back for around 1400.00 plus tax. then there is the body lift to get you a little extra room which is usually a 3 in lift for around 230.00 dollar to 300.00 depending on quality. Soooooooo you could get a total of 8.5 upfront and 8 in the rear. I believe in doing things right the first time not jerry rigging stuff to just get by. No trimming inner fenders or trimming bumpers.

33's wont fit,yes, they will bolt on but thats it. thats why i had to put the lift on. besides w/o the lift, the first time u compressed ur shocks, u would tear ur quarter panel all to hell. if u didnt jam the tire up in the wheelwell and bind it up.

 

i thought of lifting my 01 RT , but awd is not the best way to go for offroading,,,,,,,,,,2wd/4wd comdo is the best ,,so instead of offroader ,,,,,touring performance is the way i went ,,,i had to trim very lil off inner fender wells for my 285/50/20`s to fit...but i do agree,,,,,a lift is a safety must to run 33`s ,,,,,,,,see too many accidents from big tires and stock suspension 4x4`s..........

 

Just a question (I have searched all tire size and lift threads).... Everyone is saying that 33x12.5 won't fit without 5" of lift... What about the 33x9.5 or 33x10.5? Is it the width that causes most of the problem or the height?

I find it hard to believe that an inch more ground clearance will cause that much issue. With that said I do realize that the tire is closer to the bumpers and fender by an inch front to back, so is this where the issue really is?

Just want to understand this issue for when our tires need to be replaced to make sure I am prepared for the new tires before we need them...
