Red face Electric Fan Not Working?

Hello Fellow Durango Owners!

I noticed today that my electric fan is not kicking on which is attached to the radiator. I have a 2001 SLT wtih 5.9L engine and towing package. Not sure the best way to trouble shoot other than checking the fan connection to ensure it did not come loose (will do this tomorrow in the day light).

I also notice that the A/C does not seem as cold as it usually is - not sure if there is a connection or not there...

Would love your thoughts, comments and inputs.

Regards,
Mark

when you are checking to see if the fan is on is the A/C on (i know, stupid question/mistake, but we have to ask, starting with the simple stuff)

next check the electric fan relay in the power distribution center under the hood, should be the black box just behind the battery on the drivers side, it also has the relays labeled on the lid of the box (at least mine does, sorry i can tell you exactly which relay it is). the next thing I would try would be to jump the fan straight to 12v battery lead, but dont do that unless you are proficient with electric circuits,

I have tried with and without the A/C on and it does not seem to run.

Try switching out the relay with a different one with the same part number to rule out the relay. Then move the connection then to replacement of the fan.

The e-fan DOES go out on the Ds. I know, it happened to me. Replaced it with great advice from this forum. If you have the time and resources, it's a great way to get to know your D.

Any recommendation on fan replacements if it comes to that?

Get a direct replacement from AZ or your favorite auto parts warehouse.
