Default Engine Light On

Durango 2000 4.8 liter Service engine light. Did the three key turn that was suggested on the forum and it gave me code p-0442. Insight on what my issue is? Thanks Jeff

P0442 Evap Leak Monitor Medium Leak Detected

its an evap leak, check that the gas cap is on tight, if it is might be time to replace it

if that doesnt fix the problem (it comes back after you reset the light) start checking for broken/cracked/damaged vacume hoses

idk why but i get a series of evap leak codes every fall but they go away once the cold temperatures stabilize (btw i have the same 4.7l engine)

Yeah, what sharp said, check your vacuum lines. Might be helpful to check the hoses coming from the gas fill neck to the tank and also the vacuum canister located near the front of the gas tank bolted to the frame rail. All those hoses need to be replaced if cracked. JHMO. HTH.
