Sounds like a bad valve body to me.

Ok Ill check the site. I suggested the Valve body needed replacing but they kept saying no. That none of them were sticking.

Thanks man.

I was a tech for a few years so know a bit around cars but they are trying to give me the run around like I have no grease behind my ears. Think its because im a youngin only 23.

So any advice specific to this situation that I can throw at them helps. This is actually my 2nd Durango from Tampas Carmax. My original D was a 2002 4.7 2wd. The first one kept having all kinds of things go wrong so I swapped it out for the one I have now. I had it shipped in from Kansas.
I love the truck just want them to do what I paid for.

But he needs to have pressure reading so i can help him too. My guess is to replace the valve body and adjust front and rear bands. Hope this helps.

Awesome Ill reiterate this to the tranny shop. Have them take readings if they insist that they wont replace it and get back to ya. Thanks a lot.

Well spoke with the fellas at Jesto Transmissions in Tampa (wouldnt recommend them but thats where Carmax Tampa outsources too)

Guy was a ***** about the tranny. When I explained that from a complete stop if you accelerate heavy to the point where it should up-shift (or appx 45-50 mph) The car hits the rev limiter and doesn't up-shift.

He says that's not how you drive a car. I pretty much told him get bent that's how I drive considering Im in Ocala a lot which is all country roads with 65Mph speed limits. So sometimes ya gotta goose it to get on the road. Plus its a damn 5.9 Dodge R/T.

Basically he told me they rebuilt the tranny replaced the torque converter replaced the valve body the solenoids and essentially everything is brand new in there. Apparantly they replaced the solenoids twice just to make sure.

All I could say is basically obviously something isn't right cause its still doing it. I asked him to get me pressure readings also so if he actually does that Ill post it.

So that's where things stand on that...

I have to agree that a driver should not be gunning it and if you tell a trans shop that you are shooting yourself. Just enphasize that when you are going up a hill and have to give more throttle it won't upshift.

I think it's some kind of valve body issue like a leaky gasket or low psi. Is the problem still 1st to 2nd upshift or 2nd to 3rd upshift?

Possible adjustment issue but thats normal on 2-3 gear upshift and not 1-2.
