Default 2000 dodge durango got the shakes??

OK--my durango doesn't get drove alot anymore, but it is a 4x4 with about 130k on it and it now seems to have alittle shake to it ,almost like it may cut off when idleing, but the rpms dont really move--when you drive it--it is kinda shaky and acts like it really dont want to go---has got me stumped.I changed the spark plugs, ran seafoam through it ,but still the same----i want to say maybe the cat convertor is stopped up,but again i have come to a loss as i also have tried to see if there was any vacume leaks and didnt find any---i am even leaning toward changing the transmission screen and fluid----any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated-----thanks

first question is which engine do you have 4.7 or 5.9

(im going to guess 4.7) so what kind of plugs did you put in it? copper core cheapo champion plugs are the best for these trucks, check the IAC motor on the throttle body, TPS (throttle position sensor) cam and crank position sensor and make sure that the plugs are gapped correctly (.040 gap), if the transmisison fluid has not been done recently, (or ever) it would not hurt to change the fluid/filter

another thing could be fuel pressure, check it at the rail, i think it should be around 50 psi

ok your problem is most likely the ****ty platinum plugs, get them out of there ASAP, and replace them with the cheapo stock champion copper core plugs

and replace with msd 8.5mm plug wires, new cap and rotor with brass contacts and let us know if that fixes it

for some reason these motors dont play nicely with platinum plugs so its better to just not use them

hey--havent took the IAC out yet,but from inside the throttle body-it does look black, and it was doing the same thing before i replaced the plugs?--so should i just replace the wires, cap, etc first and then see before having to remove the new plugs?--damn i'm stumped on this--thanks

you can clean the throttle body out first if you want, and you could replace the wires cap ect first, but you WILL have to change the plugs eventually, and im sorry to have to tell you this, but buying the platinum plugs for these trucks is just a good way to waste money they will cause mis fires and rough idle

yea the guy at the auto store probably wouldnt know unless he owns/drives one of these trucks, and after you install them the shops usually wont take them back

and they sell them bc the plug companies want money, and they are sold by part number, our trucks are not they only ones that use this plug, so some of the other engines which take the "same" plug as our trucks would run fine with the platinums all the guy in the store does is to look up the part number for the truck and then check it against the plug company book to see which plugs by each company are compatible with the stock number

Autolite has a large account with Auto Zone. When a customer comes in and asks for spark plugs the clerk has to say Auto Lite Platinums as part of their deal they get on thier products. It's not the clerks fault.

Get those plugs out of there and get either Champion Regular Copper plugs or Champion Truck Plugs.

ok--i have not changed the plugs yet--but i changed the wires, cap, rotor button, cleaned the IAC ----this thing is still the same or worse, when you go to push the gas to go--the whole vehicle shakes like a washing machine--you can floor it and it will smooth out,i will change the plugs ,but it was doing this before and after the plugs--so i got to lean toward this being something else,i just dont have a clue what---maybe the timing out?--lost more than ever now, maybe time to go to the shop----any other suggestions???
