I Think I Have Electrical Issues
My CEL has been on for a long time. It first indicated a down stream oxygen sensor: changed that. Then it showed heater resistor: changed it. Up stream oxygen sensor: that too. Tranny solenoid: same story. At one time I had 6 simultaneous tranny codes. They were reset. The last time it was read, it showed 5 new codes. The light returns within minutes after each reset, and is almost always there. If it doesn't come on with the first start-up of the day, it usually comes after a stop/restart. Two Mondays ago it must have been a full moon because I used the truck all day with no CEL. But when I returned from work at midnight, there it was.
Is my computer shot? I bought a used computer but it must need to be programmed because a few months ago I swapped it in & the D would not run. Would a dealership swap & program a used computer?
Please throw me some ideas.

How about postings some codes you are getting. Since you are driving an R/T that means you have the 5.9L egine? This way i can look up my pdf files and find out whats in common.

Okay: P037, P0306, 0038, H02S, P1762. The set of 6 transmission codes I didn'r write down, but he might have a list. I'm going to pick up the D in the morning and he says he has made a list of the latest codes. I'll share those when I get them.
Okay, P1762 is governor pressure sensor offset too low or high. P0037 and P0038 both for the same o2 sensor 1/2 your voltage is either too low or high. P0306 is a engine misfire #6 cylinder. H02S no ideal. You may want to fix the misfire first and go from there. Also ck all the wires around the bell housing, for pinch wires.
(Oh, I forgot P138 as well)
The gov. press. sensor was already taken care of as well as both 02 sensors & the heater resistor.
Like I indicated, the codes keep changing, the misfire appeared only once and never returned after being cleared. I'm curious to see what he found when I get the truck in a couple of hours.
About the misfire ... if the code is genuine, does a fix require opening up the engine? Pardon me if this is a novice question ... because I am.

Okay, I got the truck back & here are the codes he retrieved. Note, the CEL was back on when I picked it up, and went off after I made a couple stops on the way home. As of pulling up to the house, it was off. But I have no illusions
. I know it'll be back.
Codes: P0037, P1757, P1762, P0138, P0135. (Note: I'm posting them because someone requested, not because I don't know what they mean. I had them explained to me) He did tell me that the Gov. pressure sensor is on the same circuit as the 02 sensor (fairly sure that's what he said) so he recommends having the electrical quirks checked before doing the tranny stuff.
I ordered an 02 sensor from Dodge, picked up the wires from them & I'll get the cap/rotor on the way to my mechanic. If all that fails, I have an appt. for an electrical diagnosis next Thursday.

The bad news is ... I forgot to update this thread. The good news is ...
NO MORE CODES!!! Wheeeee!!!
Okay, I'm done acting like a giddy schoolgirl.
It's been over 700 miles since replacing both aftermarket 02 sensors with OE sensors, and the CEL light has not reappeared. And to think it took me this damn long to get it right.
I'm not so sure the wires/plugs had anything to do with it because after they were replaced the CEL returned. But I still had 1 aftermarket oxygen sensor in the D. Anyway I don't regret swapping them out.
Moral of this story: Just suck it up & buy the OE parts when you need electrical fixes. I spent money on less expensive aftermarket 02 sensors, still had the problem, had to toss them and get the OE sensors that I was too cheap to get in the first place. Now how much money did I save, considering I paid the shop to do the work twice?
I could kick myself. Lesson learned. Hope someone else learns something from my mistakes.
