Free Heated Seat Fix
I bought a 01 RT last week, very nice truck just had a few very minor bugs, one of which was the drivers heated seat not working, the light just blinked. I broke out the ohmmeter and got to work.
1. Pulled front seat.
2. Determined which wire set on the seat ran the heat elements. Its the wire that has a second connector on it. The second connector runs to the second heat element. There is a heat element in the bottom cushion and one in the back cushion. The other electrical connector/wire under the seat runs the power seat.
3. Disconnected the electrical connector for the second heat element.
4. Use the ohmmeter to check each line to the heating element for an open circuit. If you have a meter with a beeping continuity check you should get a beep on a good heat element. If you find an open remove the cloth or leather seat cover for that heating element, either bottom or bach cushion cover.
5. Once the cover is removed the heating element is exposed, visually inspect the element for a scorch mark. If you find one that is likely where the open circuit is.
6. Repair the open heat element wire by stripping the wire a little bit and soldering it back together. Use heat shrink if you want.
7. Reassemble and put everything back together.
Took me like 30 minutes from start to finish, very easy and not as costly as buying a new heat element. Cant say how long my doctored wire will hold up but so far so good. Warm seats are great in upstate NY!!

That diagnostic chart didnt hold true on my seat, I checked the chart before I started working on the heaters. Both were blinking wich the chart says is a short, all I had was an open.

hydra, if you buy the seatwarkers, and deliver them and the truck to me, give me a week to do it ill make sure you have em hooked up

this is a good thread... I have been wanting to fix this little wiggle my front drivers seat has. It belonged to my dad before and he said he just got used to it, I supposed I could but it's a nice vehicle and that's something I'd have to deal with all the time.

ALRIGHT!! Before the alcohol kicks in and start to make me numb all over, I have posted the pics along with the documented captions for you guys to address your rock and roll driver seat issue! Here is the link. Let me know if it works or not. I decide to use google picasa. PLEASE DOWNLOAD this album as I am not going to manage it and if one day, google says bye bye photos, it will be gone.
Thus I rather have more space alloted in this forum to upload it here so it permanently can stay here and not have to worry about photos disappearing.

In case some there are some blind users that do not see the album info at picasa, I will post it here for you to gather the tools for the job:
This is a document on how to resolve the driver seat rocking issue on a 2000 Dodge Durango R/T with electric assist. This procedure might also work for other various year models for the 1st generation Durango from 1998 to 2003. I am in no way liable for any mistakes you make using my documentation. You must have the following tools for this procedure. 13mm socket or wrench 16 mm socket or wrench 18 mm socket or wrench #2 Phillips screw driver T25 Torx head screwdriver
I forgot to mention, you will also need a 1/4 drive 13mm socket if you do not want to use wrench to access the bolt holding down the track. 3/8 drive socket will not fit under there.
