heater not hot
I just replaced the heater core a few weeks ago and it gets slightly warm but not hot. The reason I say slightly is because I drive a hour to work and it doesn't get warm untill about the last 10-15 minutes of my drive. Before I replaced the heater core it just blew out cold air.
About 2 months ago I replaced all the hoses with Dodge hoses, flushed and drained all the coolant, installed a 180 degree thermostat from Advanced Auto.
My question is do you think it is the 180 degree thermostat that the heater doesn'get warm? Since I changed from the stock 195 degree thermostat to a 180 thermostat the motor runs alot cooler and the guage on the dash also shows it runs cooler.
I have a 98 Durango 5.2 4X4 that just turned 80,000 miles and I am the original owner and I maintain it constantly.

But as you stated you only get air from defrost vents, I would have to say it may be a vacuum leak also as the blend door is the one that controls the mixture between the a/c and heater core coils.
I did not get it backwards, at least I don't think so? I am talking about the heater hoses, not the radiator hoses. Okay, rewriting my description of the location of the heater hoses. There is a heater heater hose on the driver/passenger side of the engine. I have to guess the driver side heater hose is the output coming directly from the water pump. The heater hose on the passenger side goes back to the intake near the thermostat.
