Unhappy p0171

well i lasted 29 hrs and went to pull out a friend cracked intake manifold gasket and sucked water into the intake towed it to my house i will take it apart tomarrow buy anew gasket set tomarrow .this is gonna suck.

That can happen when you submerge your truck on a daily basis!......LOL

okay p0171 new intake gaskets anything besides a vc leak remember threw a code after i submerged it

okay throwin p0171 system lean but shoootin black smoke doesnt that mean its rich plus truck running like crap almost possitive no vac leak

cant black smoke also be alot oil being burnt??? i could be mistaken idr the smoke colors and what they mean

does not smell like oil its suet -powder like a diesel

I would say your TCM got wet.



Black is un-burned fuel and blue is burning oil!!!!!!

I was going off the PM I think on that one, sorry.

P0171 1/1 Fuel Sys Lean


Sounds like the pre-CAT O2 sensor is reading incorect. It might have a coating of mineral or crap on it giving the incorrect reading and triggering the code or the harness is wet. Get some SeaFoam and litely drizzle it down the TB at about 2k-3k rpm to clean out the CAT before you plug it if you haven't already.

Then replace the pre-CAT O2. Finish with a reset and clean a little more then a possible 2nd reset.


Lastly it could be the MAP sensor triggering the issue.

too late i cut the cat and straight piped it didnt help still 6 miles to the gallon at65 on criuse control sounds sweat though
