Default Idle issues

When I shift from park to neutral over and over the idle fluctuates and the eng eventually dies if I do it fast enough.

The video will help explainer, sorry for the sound is poor. I start out shifting normally from P to N then N to P over and over then I go faster going back and forth. then it dies. I start it back up and it idles just under 1000rpm for a while until I rev it a couple of times then it idles normally.

And I have replaced the PCV and spark plugs with champ 5k ago. And 1k ago the air filter was replaced. I have M1 highmilage 10w40

Thanks for the help

why would you do that over and over? there is no reason to do it, and when you shift from park to any other gear the idle should fluctuate a little, there really is no reason to push it the way you have

Agreed.

Problem: "When I stick my finger in my eye it hurts."
Answer: "Stop putting your finger in your eye."

Your neutral safety switch is toast. Probably from repetitive needless shifting.

ROTFLAMO!

Second, your motor needs 10W-30 not 10W-40!

Yes next change will be 10W30, yet it does have 71,000 with poor maintenance, until now the fam gave it to me

It has the same modifiers and additives as 10W-30 but has a problem with shear factors so they brake down faster with poor results. This is the reason 10W-30 was produced and lighter weights are becoming the choice. 10W-40 has been phased out of production in newer vehicles and will soon be phased out entirely. Some of the additives have already been superseded from what engine manufactures needed from the oil companies during production. People using the new 10W-40 don't have all the additives needed as government standards have changed it.

In comparison look at leaded fuel and valve lubrication in older engines.
