Sounds like the lockup torque converter is locked up all the time. Maybe something got connected wrong in that plug you repaired.

No, I haven't had the chance to get it checked again. Life keeps getting in the way. It does it whether the plug is plugged in or not. I wire things for a living, so I'm pretty sure I didn't get any wires crossed up. I don't even know what the plug is for. I have a manual, but it doesn't cover the electronic version of the transmission.

If it helps, I took a couple pics of the plug... It's at the rear of the tranny pan on the passenger side...

"So that day came about 3 weeks ago and I instantly noticed a difference in the way it shifted. I'm thinking all is well. Um, nope. So last week it started to not release torque when coming to a stop. The truck would lunge forward and want to keep going like it's not disengaging for the stop. The truck would surge and if I held the brakes harder to hold it still it would stall. Reverse is the same way (I found this out trying to back up my motorcycle trailer into the driveway...fun...)."

I have a 5.9 model and probably a different trans type. Don't have my factory manual with me right now. It might have blown a fuse when the wires were shorted? Might have ruined the lockup solonoid? It just sounds like you are trying to stop without disengaging the clutch...and if the torque converter is in lockup then that's exactly what you are doing. ...but I don't know if you have a lockup converter with your model? There is a mode where the lockup causes the trans to overheat but I can't remember what it is? ...Always locked or never locked?
