Unhappy Middle of Nowhere Auto

I have a 2002 Durango. I bought it a few weeks ago, and it almost immediately seemed to slip a little in reverse. It seemed to only do it when it was cold. My first thought was low fluid, but that was ok. Since then whenever it warms up it seems to slip when it starts out and doesn't seem to go into overdrive. The latest code it seems to set almost imediately is P1698 - no CCD codes from TCM. I`m not sure what to check. Input or output sensor or connectors. I don`t think it is a serious problem with the trans itself as it isn`t a constant problem. Any info would be greatly appreciated

check the connectors to the TCM it should be on the front of the engine bay, just forward of the air box and follow those wires and check all wires btwn there and the trans, and the pcm to make sure there are no breaks int he wire, shorts, or bare wire exposed, and that all the plugs are tight, and have no water in them, and then check all the grounds associated with it too, (should be able to follow them from the wires) there are 2 or three in the passenger side of the engine bay which you could check

it being an intermittent problem points to loose connection/bad ground/water issue IMO-
