Hey guys . So I'm doing the torsion/shackle lift on Friday and I have a question. How hard will it be to turn the torsion bolts? Will it take a bit of force? Or will it be nice and smooth? Just curious do I know before hand what I will be getting into.

Pre lube them.. And when cranking the torsion bars, have the vehicle secured with blocks/ebrake, and the front tires off the ground by lifting the frame. That will unload the suspension and allow for easier turning. Highly recomend a large breaker bar or high torque impact. JUST REMEMBER TO WATCH THE REVOLUTIONS TO COMPLETE 8 FULL TURNS ON BOTH SIDE.

The biggest issue with the t/s (well the hardest part) is getting the factory hitch off to remove the drivers rear shackle, other than that should be cake work..

Also after the torsion bars are adjusted and the vehicle is lowered, you will have to drive around cycling the suspension a little to get the correct vehicle height- Dont forget the washers for the rear shackles

You can always cut the bolts off instead of unbolting the hitch and replace them with grade 7 bolts. Just install the new bolts so the nut is on the spare tire side instead of the fender side.

Ya, when you let her down push the truck up and own as well then take her for a drive (possible bumbs) and turning and such to settle the tortion.

+1

This is what I always do. Pencil marking the bolts head and chassis ensure that you don't go over.

ok im getting new tires soon bigger ones. 32 inchers. Will i need to get an alignment done when upgrading to a bigger size of a tire? camber on these cars cant be done with out some sort of a camber bolt kit right? so in an alignment they just check the angle of toe and to make sure its even with the rear tires for a 4 wheel alignment? I still need to get an alignment because of my t/s lift so im waiting till i get the new rubs, cause i think they will just have to realign it with the bigger tires any ways?

thanks.
