soldering vs crimping
I have a 2001 Durango and just picked up my blower motor resistor and wiring harness b/c the last one melted. I'm just about to install the new resistor and harness and was wondering what is the best action to go in installing these?
Crimp the wires together or solder the wires together?
if I solder them together, what type of solder should I use rosin/acid/solid core type and is there a require min or max wattage soldering gun/iron to use with it?
Thanks.

Solder is always 99% better than crimp no matter what. When dealing with electrical Rosin core is the way to go, and as for type of gun, thats completely up to you. You dont want something ultra-hot that over heats sheilding before you can apply solder, or too low that takes forever to heat up.

solder x100000000000000
and any solder you want, i use rosin core solder, with flux (usually used for soldering copper pipes, but works awesome for electrical soldering too, just dont breathe the fumes) you can get by with any electrical solder tho and any soldering IRON (not gun, they are too high powered and tend to melt the insulstaion) that you can get, i use a 25 watt iron for all my electrical projects and it seems to be a happy medium, but you can go anywhere fromt here to 50 watts for most projects tho 25 or 30 would work just fine

+3 for rosin core type solder. I would not recommend acid type, Acid solder is made for another type of soldering application such as plumbing and such where you need acid to make sure the solder will meld into and bond with the material really well. Usually electrical soldering, rosin core is the common method.

I cut off the old plug leaving some of the wire on so i can align the same wires to the new plug.
My question is this, I purchased the harness from the local dealer and noticed that the package has 3 sets of wires 5 purple wires and 5 green wires and a package of the same colored wires for 'gold' tabs. I noticed the existing wires are different sizes and slightly different from the new wires I'm trying to connect. Can anyone give any kind of advice to which wires to connect?
