IAC problem - Stalling / Idle high
98 Durango, 5.2. Started stalling three weeks ago. Changed IAC, for the first time, and ran normally for two weeks. Last week it wouldn't idle with a cold engine. Changed it again and now idles at 1500 RPM. Changed it again hoping I was just in a bad batch ,like I've read here. No change. still idling at about 1500RPM. What can I try next? If I put my hand over the air intake where the IAC is it idles normally. HELP, Wife is driving me crazy with this trk.
First clean the Throttle Body.

Next check for vacuum leaks. Also it could be your MAP Sensor or Air Charge Sensor.

I did clean it. Nothing sticking, everything is clean. UGH She has been driving the big D with the idle high, in drive with break on its 1100. I'm lost. what about the trk computer. This was the original part. It ran fine for 11 years. I've changed it three times and it still runs like bobo. Help me out HYDRA
when I first start the trk it revs to around 2100 rpm then comes down to 1500 at idle. I removed the iac valve again and cleaned that area and the throttle body again. Opened the throttle body and cleaned the ports to the iac valve. ran out of things to do. Put everything back together and starting 2100 rpm, drive 1500. no change.
Have you replaced or checked the TPS?

Pulled the connectors off of the MAP and TPS one at a time with noticeable engine surge. Plugged them back in and the engine returned back to normal, or the way it is now. The truck runs great except for the high idle. I bought the last three IAC valves from Autozone. The first one ran great for two weeks, then would not idle at cold start up in the morning until it warmed up. But ran fine all day once the engine was warm. The last two ran the same. High idle. I'm going to NAPA to get another one and see what happens. Also the last time I went to autozone I had them check the codes. Check engine bulb is burned out. Came back with a PO505. IAC valve. This was the last time I changed it.

Its 12:30am. Just getting in. Stopped by advanced and picked one up. Just put it on and its the same thing, 1500 idle. I read your comment about the dealership. Going by there tomorrow morning. I appreciate all of your help.
Changed the computer and it fixed the problem. For all these things to ga bad at once this is what it had to be. Ran fine for a month and the fuel pump went out. Fixed that and now I think the oil pump is going out. SMH
