Persistent Reading Misfire #2 Cylinder 2002 SLT 4.7
I've been getting this reading for the last month. Had my trustworthy local shop change plugs and coil packs, reset the diagnostics and it lasted 2 days before the Check Engine light came on with the same readout. We ran fuel injector cleaner in the tank but not via the fuel rail on the engine.
If the light is reset, it will stay off for most of 1 day, then re-appear with the same diagnostic.
Any suggestions?
Thanks all and have a very Merry Christmas

Welcome to the boards!
Trusty mechanic huh. I hope he used Champion plugs?????
Anyway, have you replaced the injector? Also I've heard of rust in the fuel rail so blow it out good. You can also check the harness on the injector for corrosion.

i second making sure he used champion COPPER CORE plugs, and checking all the wire connections, maybe switch the #2 fuel injector with one of the other ones and see if the problem follows it . . .
Thanks for the replies folks! Yes, he did use the correct Champion plugs and we will be cleaning the fuel rail after the holidays. I'll mention switching the injector to see if the diagnostics follow it. Both the mechanic and the shop owner have Durango's...so they have a pretty decent knowledge of Dodge. Plus, I've dealt with them for over 20 years with great service.
