Another thing to remember, the coolant has to be going somewhere.

Hot engine with no cold air blowing means that coolant is not flowing through the cooling passages. Look for either a leak or a bad water pump. Disconnect the drive belt and grab the water pump and wiggle it, if it has play in it replace it. Also have the radiator cap pressure tested, it could be bad.

If you boil out the recovery tank over time without checking it this introduces the steam to the air which can't condense and be reused. Therefore it can dissipate "but slowly" causing your system to boil out more and on and on tell your very low. There also could be a leak somewhere like a bad hose or recovery tank or other system leak.

First thing open up the radiator cap and ensure you are totally full. Run the heater on hi when doing this. Then fill the recovery tank. Remember to use at least 50/50 on antifreeze coolant mix or distilled water mixed with coolant to at least 50/50 ratio.

After you get all the air out and the system completely full then we can look into water pump or other.

Well I worked on it last night and followed the advice given and bleed all the air out of the system adn the heat kicked in and topped off the radiator. After driving it for a few miles I noticed steam coming from under the hood and got out to check it out. The fluid is leaking from the lower water hose coming off the water pump so I'm going to replace that. Not sure if its actually the water pump but like I stated earlier it was making a funny noise so I think I'm going to just replace both of them and be done with it.

I would like to thank everyone for all the help though it was greatly appriciated. I have had this truck for 4 yrs and never had any issue with it besides tires so you could say I was drawing a blank. Don't drive it daily but since the wifes car is down she has been putting the miles on it and we all should know how women drive (gas and go).

If the leak is coming from the pump then it is bad. Water pumps have whats called a weep hole in them, once water comes out from there it is proof of a bad pump, combine that with the noise of the pump and I think you found your problem.

Also if replacing the pump, remember to replace the bypass (top of pump) hose under the alternator... Its a pita when it fails, beotch to get to.

Thanks on the heads up on that hose. I wonder who was the engineering genius that put it there in the first place. All in all the pump is changed and its back up to par. Now I just have to change the LF wheel bearing and it will be as good as new.

Once again thanks to all that assisted me with my issue hope I can be of assistance to some of you.

Yes please send Hyrda your old hub. I am holding off replacing mine hoping Hydra gets an old one to put together a DIY for bearing replacement.
