splarkplug wires?
I've been trying to find this in the threads and I can't, just a bunch of stuff about the plugs themselves, what brand of wires do you guys put in your trucks? Its crazy, I thought I was taking good care of her truck, til I started reading indepth in the longevity threads, I've got a lot to do. I'm gona start with plugs and wires, then move on to cap and rotor. (Brass contacts I hear). And move on from there. Thanx for any advice!
Most around here tout OEM Mopar or MSD wires, I am running Autolites from Pep boys with no problems. I recently had an engine miss most likely due to plugs, which was resolved with plug change (Champion copper from NAPA $1.50 each) / cap and rotor (also Pep boys and $25). Runs like a dream now. There's a TSB in the DIY sticky about properly routing plug wires. The main idea is to keep them from touching each other or the engine block, and trying to cross wires at 90 degree angles to prevent cross currents. This is probably more important with cheaper less well insulated wires. Funny things happen electrically when you pump the voltage to several thousand volts. The current tends to travel "around" the conductor rather than through it, so the TSB makes sense from a physics perspective. I personally think the plugs make more difference than the wires, but to each his own!
I'd go Champion Truck Plugs gap at .040..... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CPN-4436/
And MSD wires..... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-32189/

Fantastick guys thanx a mil. Now I have a stupid question!!! Are the plugs already gapped to .04 or do I have to do it? I have a set of vernier calipers but is there another tool I need to purchase in order to do this? Thanx again

Hmmm....guess I'll be ordering the plugs and wires online seeing as my local autozone can't get them. Is that link you posted up there a reasonable price? I'll probly just order from there
