Here's what happened to me not too recently:
Today we were at my in-law's and my mother-in-law wanted her car moved to another space. So my brother-in-law goes out to do it and he's out there for some time and then comes in to tell me the car won't start. So we both go out there to see what's up? I crank the engine and it's turning over but no ignition. I'm thinking it's the battery cause the light comes on. We try to jump it but no go. We checked the fuses and they're all okay. It was beginning to look like it was the fuel pump cause there was no pressure at the whatchamacallit valve in the engine bay.
I was gonna come here to see if anyone knew how to change it out but it's been a half hour or so and my mother-in-law comes out and says, "Here, use this key. Your father-in-law uses it to start the car."
WTH?!?!?! It seems she gave us the spare key that "only" opens the doors and trunk! I was like,"Oh yeah. The main key has a transponder!" Sometimes it's the most common things that can solve a major problem.
Moral: Even though our mother-in-laws say they like us, they still like to make our lives difficult!
