Air only from the defrosters then? 99s had vacuum actuated diverter doors compared to the 01-03s electric ones. I don't remember for sure exactly where they are under the dash, but there are some vacuum lines that should go to the hvac system that you could check to make sure are connected/in good shape.

Hi i am needing a diagram of the vent system one of the little motors that moves the vents to front or floor or dash is not working and we was wanting a diagram to see if there is a way to change that little motor with out taking the dash all apart to get to it. The the motor that moves the arms for the vents is under the steering wheel. Is there any way someone has a diagram of that or where i can get one

My 2002 Durango has the same problem. I checked the vacuum line under hood going through fire wall and no leaks are found.
Is there an easier way to remove Heater - A/C housing without removing the entire dash to repair flow door?

Thanks,
Leebar

There are three motors that operate the damper doors located above the gas pedal in a 2002 Durango. Caution when removing the lower motor which involves a cam wheel and two levers. the other two motors just have the grooved hole to insert into. I found the center motor is not moving while operating the vent switch with key on and have ordered replacement motors from Mopar Parts overstock at $28.41 each plus shipping. Removing the panel above the brake pedal and below the steering column allows easy access to the motors and requires a 5/16 socket to remove the two screws which holds each motor in place. I hope this helps.

My fresh/recirc acuator door broke not to long ago (inside the blower unit). unbolted the blower assy and reached in to position the actuator door and secured it to allow fresh air constant. Problem is the compressor will not cycle. Constant run since the controller thinks AC is in recirc mode. For now is ok with me since I live in Arizona. Will deal with cold weather later.

If they are both in the slots and moving, look down the center dash vents with a flash light. You should be able to see the panel doors. There is a goofy link setup that moves them and the links break. If the levers came out of the disk, you'll need a new one.

The arrow 6 points at the panel door links. Kind of a ball and socket setup.
I'm am thinking that the arrow #9 is the rearward most actuator and I can see the disk behind it. When I looked today I could see the disk rotating. Are you saying that there are little arms connected to this almost inaccessable area???? I wanted to remove this actuator and see what makes it click but this looks like it could open up a whole new ball of wax.... What are your recommendations? Tks

I'm in the same boat here still as well, that rearward most actuator looks all most impossible to get to. Not sure what to do either.
