Would you recommend that I get a stiffer shock that would reduce the flex, therefore reducing the risk of rubbing?

if you are sticking with stock height, and only using the truck on roads just about any quality shock should work, like i said, i like monroe's reflex line up but to each his own

A stiffer shock will only make the ride more stable/harsh. shocks will only limit travel if the range is exceeded & the shock tops or bottoms out before the suspension.

off road I'm generally crawling along with just enough momentum to clear any upcoming obstacle, doubt my choice of shock really means much. But the higher pressure gas shocks do perform better on the road & that is why I choose them. they do increase spring rate slightly but again more of an on road effect. less body roll in corners ect..
