Default Cooling Fan Assembly Removal on 5.2L V-8

Howdy All,

Need a little guidance on removing the fan and clutch from the water pump on a 98 5.2L V-8 ? What the best procedure for doing this?

Any suggestions / comments and /or smart remarks are welcome !!

Thanks

Ron

The correct tool to use is called a spanner wrench. The only thing this spanner wrench will do is put two pegs into the holes on the water pump's pulley so that you can get a wrench on the fan clutch nut. You might be able to rent one from an auto parts store or you might be able to find a pretty chill shop around that you could take the whole water pump with the fan installed into and just have them break the torque.. good luck

If you go out and buy one try to get a good one with changeable tips. If the tips are too small for the hole then the wrench will really wanna slip out.. that can be very painful on the fan clutch nut.. its gonna take some arm too..
