Default Durango rpm question

Ok so I have a 2001 Durango {my wife's car } and while cruising the interstate at about 70 or so with the cruise control on or off does not matter, well the rpm's kinda raise up about a grand or so then back down......... So the funny thing is I'm not going any faster yet the rpm's go up and down about every 15 seconds.
I shut the heat/ac off and took the cruise off and kept a steady foot and it still races up and down . I've noticed on our trip to Fla. it DOES NOT help the fuel mileage one bit either LOL ............. Any thoughts ?

Oh, and notice it's begging to do it around town also at much slower speeds but not very often at all .........

Thanks

There is a pressure gov sensor that would cause bucking in the same situation. If you are only seeing RPMs moving, replace the TPS (throttle position sensor.)
