99 Durango wont start, smell gas
My 99 5.2l durango was running fine here in PA. Parked it in my garage where it sat for a few days (i walk to work). The weather here in PA went from cold to very warm 60deg and raining. My truck sometimes runs odd for a few minutes when it rains. I went to start it and it wont start. It cranks and cranks but never fires. There is a strong smell of fuel when I turn it over. It really sounds like it is just not getting spark.
I got a new cap and rotor and installed it last night. I tried it again and it is exactly the same. It cranks but never catches and smells like fuel. I pulled the hose off the PCV valve because I read something on the net about that but again it didnt change anything. I put a float charger on the battery after I was done last night because I was wearing down the battery and it is cold here again. I did notice the pos term was corroded pretty badly so I cleaned that off and I'll try again to turn it over tonight with clean terminals but I dont think that is the issue because it was cranking over and over no problem.
Can someone please offer advice to what I might try next. I really cant afford to have this truck towed to my mechanic and I really need this trunk to pick up my daughters this weekend. Thank you very much.
