If the one push tube is not seating in the lifter right and is sitting off to the side of the lifter, that would also cause the valve to stay opened. To check if that one push tube is seated correctly, loosen that one rocker that is giving you problems and twist that push tube to see if you can spin it freely, you should be able to feel it spin like it is on a bearing.

Finally got it. The remanufactured (yup, not new...) head on that side was milled just a little to much that it was keeping the valves open. Glad I figured that one out and the valves didn't hit the piston becuase of that error. This one was a stumper! Thank you guys for all the help and ideas. The Durango is running great!

Glad to give you some pointers. They really must have milled the crap out of that head for the valves to stay open esp. when you had to back the rockers off that much to hold compression. They must have had a trainee on the milling machine!!!
