that is SNOT and NOT sludge, its normal the 4.7l engines, the earlier ones have a recall to put a baffle in which helps to reduce it, but its something you just have to wipe out of the filler cap and keep going, its not going to hurt the engine as longs as you wipe it out before pouring more oil in usuallyhappens to my truck in the winter only when it is used for short trips in the cold the engine doesnt spend enough time fully warmed up to boil everything out and stay clean before being shut off again (i only drove 8 miles each way to school, or work, ect and then it would just sit)
