Hey guys i was looking at some pictures of tires and some people have the donut look where the tires are puffy and look like antarctic wheels made for mobbing up anything. How do they get that kind of look? do they just get a wheel slightly wider than the rim?

Since i have the stock 16X8 rims would i be able to fit a tire made for a 16X8.5 or 16X9 rim? thanks!!

 

There is one upside to using a rim narrower than the tire manufactures recommendation, that is to protect the rim from damage by having the sidewall & tread balloon out past the rim. that's it, it is all downsides from there.

if you run an 8" wheel with a 12.50 tire, you will wallow on the tires. it won't matter how much air you run. the truck will push the rim in the tire to the outside wall on every turn. you will adversely affect handling & if you have a tire failure it will not be covered by the manufacturer.

If your off road a lot it has advantages but on road & it'll just be for looks at the cost of performance.

 

hmm ok thanks. I was just looking for some tires that are perhaps 32x8.5x16 or 32x9x16 to go onto my 16x8 rims so that it would be just a little more puffy. i cant seem to find that size tho :/

 

I run 12.5 on 10w rims, makes ya 20x more acceptable to sidewall cuts if your a street queen. Just think, you cant safely repair a sidewall cut for road use..

 

will the 33x10.50 BFG ATs fit on a 15x10 rim??

 

Yepp. If i can run 12.5 on 10, you can run 10.5 on 10

heavy, yes, but much better if you need to use it than a donut is, and with a 4x4 a donut can cause ALOT of problems especially for the people who put it on and leave it there for a while
