Default Diagnosing electrical issue

I bought a 2000 5.7L Durango last week. It ran well and I found no major issues when I test drove it. After driving for 5 days I am having some electrical issues.

  • Occasionally when I turn the truck off and remove the key the radio (stock infinity) will stay on. Sometimes it turns off as it should.
  • Occasionally if I leave the headlights on the reminder will NOT buzz.
  • Occasionally when I turn the vehicle off and remove the key the headlight/key in reminder will buzz for no apparent reason. Headlights are off and key is removed.
  • On one occasion the battery died over night because something was drawing power.
  • The truck does have an aftermarket remote start installed. I have not been using it since the battery died, but the issues have continued.
Any idea where to start troubleshooting? I do have a code scanner and have the following two codes:
  1. P0500 - investigated and need to replace the rear VSS
  2. P0108 - MAP/Baro ckt high input
Thanks for any help!

jsstarcars,
It was moved to the correct section, 1st generation, after I posted from the general Durango section. There are a lot of things you may have missed on this site being that you have one post and I will happily hold you hand and lead you through the changes that happen throughout the years. Puberty is one of the changes that you must go through.
