Default Manual trans in Durango?

Did they ever offer it? I haven't heard of any, but you never know. If they didn't, I wonder how hard it would be to swap the pedals and linkages from a manual dakota into my 2001 5.9. I couldn't use the dakota trans, because I think they only offered the stick with the 6 cylinder, and it would never survive behind the 5.9.
Anybody have any ideas on this?

Actually the nv3500 5 speed was offered in the '01 Dakotas and is very capable of handling the 5.9L.

You will probably need to find a complete 2001 donor truck for the pedals, hydraulics, shifter, shifter trim peices, computer, wiring, etc. Also, chances are you'll have to have a custom driveshaft made.

Would be cool to see one though!

The stick version D was availible only to a few outside us areas, as well the two door version (They get all the good stuff). As far as donor, 95 has the ticket. Im not Dakota spec savy.

OK, I'm back. I've been thinking about this for a long time. I know it would cost an arm and a leg, so I would only do it if my auto trans died and I had a bunch of money sitting around at the same time.
My trans is now acting up. I think it's the shift solenoid, but the mechanic at work thinks it may be the computer. He has one from another 2001 5.9 he's willing to swap in to check if our schedules ever line up. I'm hoping it's not anything big. If it is, I may have to consider doing the stick. Who knows how long it would be off the road, though. That could be a problem.
So now I've got a couple of questions. If it turns out to be the computer, where would you recommend getting one from? I may mod the engine later, so I'd like to be able to get it reflashed. If it's the shift solenoid, where can I get the best deal. Autozone wanted either $114 or $134. Sometimes you guys know of places with great prices, so I thought I'd ask.
BTW. What it's doing is shifting very late going into 2nd and refusing to shift into 3rd at all. Usually. It's not always the same, but on average that's what happens after I've driven it a mile or so. I can put it into neutral for a few seconds and it will usually shift into the correct gear when I put it back into "drive". Sometimes it tries to go into the wrong gear and revs the engine, then goes into the correct gear after a couple of seconds. Other times, it will shift just fine for several miles. The fluid level is fine, it's not burnt. It is maybe 3 years old. I put on about 5 to 6 thousand miles a year. (Only nine miles to work.) The mechanic at work read the code, but now I can't remember what it was. I'll ask tomorrow.
Any ideas?

well the transmission on the 5.9 is hydraulically controlled, the 4.7 got the electronic one, so its could be one of the solenoids, but it could also be the speed sensor on the transmission (causes a late shift from 1st to 2nd) or you could just need a band adjustment

You can get a pre-flashed computer on ebay for direct bolt it for around $200 shipped.

Shift Solenoids, look around.

It could be a govenor but with no CEL codes I will have to recomend a trans fluid/filter and adjustment?
