Default Oil frothing???

I have a 2001 Durango SLT 4.7l 4x4 w/140000 approximate miles.

I regularly check and change the oil. Lately I have noticed "frothing" on the cap and filler neck. I thought I saw a TSB on this but can't find it now.

Do I need to be concerned about this or is this just another example of bad engineering?

I can post a link to a picture if needed...

Thanks and I look forward to replies!

TSB exists. Search for "snot" or sometimes people think it is sludge. Its not but the threads often start that way.

Replace the PCV and check the PCV system hoses for cloggage or leakage. Sludge build up is sometimes simply a PCV system that is failng to ventilate.

as indy said, it is not sludge, just a "snot" and there is a tsb on it with a fix, the fix really just causes it to set inside the cap on a baffle that catches the snot instead of dropping it back into the engine, not a problem, just keep an eye on it, and your oil level

Thanks all!

That's what I thought. The parts are already installed(baffle and cap). I was just curious.

Will do the PCV, etc to make sure my D keeps running smoothly.

Mod can close the thread...

I don't close threads unless there is issues beyond control. It will just drop off the page so don't worry.....LOL

If you have had the TSB completed, it should not be all snot filled. I would check the TSB steps again. Part of the TSB is to swap the PCV.
