Have a 99 durango and the speedometer is not working at all--check engine light came on and code was for speed sensor. Now the ABS light is not on-the only light on is check engine. Replaced sensor on side of trans and still same problem.
After reading I see there is another sensor on rear diff, where exactly and is it the same part as trans one?

The sensor in the rear axle is at the top of the pumpkin directly above where the ring gear is located.

 

I had the exact same issue with my 99' and issue was solved when replaced the rear wheel speed sensor, which is a different part. It's actually a very simple fix, less then 10 minutes, and much cleaner than the tranny side sensor.

 

Ok thanks guys....so its a different part than the tranny speed sensor?

 

Replace the rear differential speed sensor located on top of the rear diff like everyone is stating.
