Default Got 2 codes P1494 & P0441-Evap Emssn Prob

I have the definitions for these codes from my scanner- they concern the evap emissions system- I would like to do a system test- my scanner can initiate the test on several vehicles but is says "refer to your vehicle manual for proper procedure"- I have the factory manual for my 98 Durango- 3" thick from Ebay (score!)- which says "Use the DRB III scan tool- yada yada" -my scanner is Innova 3160 so I dont know the proper procedure. Im pretty sure my Durango(98 5.2L V8Magnum 4x4) has an LDP(Leak Detection Pump)(see my Evap photo album)-but it also has a test port for the Evap system which confuses me- if the pump will test the system then why is there a test port?- has anyone ran an evap system test without the Chrysler DRB III scan tool? or with an Innova code reader?
Copy of my letter to Innova:
For my 1998 Dodge Durango I was wondering if I can use my 3160 to initiate an evap emissions "system test" which involves the LDP (leak detection pump). The factory dealer "Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures" manual states "Start Ignition, let idle, Put DRB ScanTool in LDP System Test, observe LDP Switch state is closed before starting. Still in System Test, press 1 to pump. Down arrow to verify switch. With the DRB, read the LDP Pump Switch state. Did the LDP Switch state toggle?"- obviously I dont have the Chrysler "DRB ScanTool"- so how can I do this with my Innova 3160?
pic of what I think is LDP:

Thanks for looking at this guys- Great vid Hydrashocker thnx!- One bit that would be helpful to know is are there two ways to test the evap system? One that involves a scan tool initiating the LDP (leak detection pump)- and another that involves the EVAP Service port- and would either one work- or are both necessary if one doesn't reveal the problem?

Look near the fuel tank. There will be a black evap box with 3-4 hoses (I have the 5.9 in my '02, so your mileage may vary ).

The evap box is approximately 8" x 6" x 6" (about the size of a box of Klenx) and it's black, near the front of the fuel tank towards the center of the truck (as apposed towards the exterior). Driver's side

Typically one of the hoses will have a crack. The rubber hoses from the factory don't last very long.

If the hose has a crack typically I find it near the connection point to the evap box.

Also, check the seal around your gas cap.

HTH
