Default Headrest DVD Players in a 2000 Durango SLT and other questions

Hey there,

We just bought a 2000 SLT locally with 93,000 miles, a completely clean Autocheck report and only a little rust for $4000. We bought it as our car simply couldn't cope with the winters here in Wisconsin, and we needed the room for the kids.

One of the things we hoped to add for long road trips was a set of DVD players in the headrests, but of course Durango seats have molded headrests with no adjustment. Does anyone have any reccomendations on regular portable DVD players that I can attach somehow to the back of the front seats or maybe even one of those ceiling ones? Are they hard to fit?

We have some rust on the doors and rocker panels and a local estimate was $1500 to fix all of it. Seems a bit excessive?

Lastly, I'm looking for a new set of decals for the car. The rear Durango badge is about to fall off, and the V8 badges on the sides are cracked. Searched ebay but could only find the V8 badges. Anyone know of a source of the rear badges?

Many thanks for the forum. Been lurking and reading for a while now and finally posted.

I was looking into the screens in the headreat as well. But gave that up! LOL! You can go to any electronic place and get a portable DVD player with a screen or dual screens for like $150 - $200. They will also have player holders that fit over the head reast and keeps the player and screens in place. About the badges, you can try dodgeparts.com. I do believe thay have all the badges you want/need. HTH.

The previous owner of my '02 installed the Mopar ceiling mounted DVD player that was offered as an option in the '04+. Very nice unit. Wireless head phones or play the sound through the stereo speakers.

This route (factory option or aftermarket), ceiling mounted, would be your best bet.

$1500 (without seeing the rust myself) sounds about right.

Oh, and congrats on the purchase!

Thanks for the link - couldn't find the emblems on dodgeparts.com - I'll keep looking.

I might buy this for the kids and have it installed locally.

As for the rust, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get it done. I'll post pics of the car later on when I get a chance, but it's really clean.
