Default another tranny question

dont know if this is normal for the mopar trans but it sure is annoying. is it normal for the torque converter to unlock everytime i let off the throttle? it cant be good for longevity of the trans. every single time i let off the throttle and get back on the tcc unlocks then relocks. definatly not used to that, my powerstroke would lock up at 35 mph and stay locked unless it dropped below 30 or you hit the brake. i noticed my buddies cummins does the same thing so i assume its in the mopar programming. if this is normal then is there any fix for this?

That is normal operation. You can thank the Government for having the TQ unlock so you can coast. This is a gas saving measure.

You can remove Torque Management by a custom PCM flash however the lock and unlock can will still occur but the slipage between should be gone. You can see how this will effect the rig by pressing the "Tow" button on the column. http://bgperformancepcm.com/ Now the only difference will be the Overdrive will be engaged with a flash whereas when the "Tow" button is engaged OD is removed from usage.

650 is a bit steep unless the performance gains are pretty impressive. is that guy reputable? forgive my ignorance if that was a stupid question....... i would be interested in the custom chip if his programs make a really big difference

Being gas you aren't going to get too much out of it but you are quoting a SCT-tuner price as well. You can just do the custom flash for $350 bones and they are just as good but obviously the hand held tuner would be better as you can control it and set back to OEM or tire sizes and you can update it on the PC.
