Default Just about to fit the Rancho lift kit on my AWD RT

which I bought before I got the truck

Now I realise its AWD because of that little switch on the dash and Rancho say it won't fit

Why not? Rancho seem to think its the way the subframe bolts into place. If so I may be able to do some mods.

Damn. Looks like I'll have to settle for 33s & I really wanted 35.
May be a blessing in disguise

You know I want those 35s.

So...

Why won't the kit fit the AWD ?

What's the difference ?

Can the kit be modified?
or
More likely can the vehicle be modified?

If so what?

Because the truck just isn't mechanically set up for lifts that tall which will accommodate 35's.

pretty much what hydra said, 35s will eat up cv joints and brakes and steering and front suspension parts FAST

OK
So leaving the tyres aside...

Will the Rancho kit fit an AWD 2001 Durango ?

On a side note
I've run several Suzukis with stock running gear on 33 Thornbirds & even 35 TSL SXs for years with no issues so can't understand why a huge Yank Tank can't handle itty bitty 35 ATs

I think they only fit 1998-1999 models.

Tough Country is 5.5" for 98 - 99 (something to do with the steering box)

Rancho is 3.5" for 00 - 03 so I have the right kit for the year
but ....
Rancho says fits 4WD only & does not fit AWD or RWD

Any ideas where the difference is between AWD & 4WD that will affect the fitting of the kit ?

The guys on ********* say no difference so probably going to go with their advice and fit it.

probably got to do with the switch from a steering box to a rack and pinion setup. i think the rack will limit you a great deal on liftting that high. wasnt it 2000 that they switched?

Yes they switched the steering in 2000

SO

The Rancho kit is for 2000 to 2003 4WD
Mine is a 2001 AWD

Is there any reason why the Kit will fit a 2001 4WD but not a 2001 AWD ?

What's the difference between a 2001 AWD & 2001 4WD that will stop the kit going on ?
