Default 2000 4.7 Radiator replacement problem (newB)

Ok, So one of the bolts is frozen that holds the A/C condenser to the radiator. Even if I could remove it, it seems like there's not enough room to pull the radiator out unless I crack open the A/c system to remove the Radiator.

Is it possible to take out the radiator without cracking the A/c lines to the condenser?

Thanks!

SO I got the bolt free. The captive nut was spinning, so I shoved a small screwdriver in against it and broke the bolt free.

Now there's not enough slack in the a/c lines to tip the radiator out past the radiator support. After thinking about it, I think it's easier to just take the radiator support off rather than mess with the a/c. I've got the towing pkg/max cool...

I'll take a pic when home tonight.

Does anyone else's a/c condenser sit between the tranny cooler and the radiator? seems like no one ever mentions the a/c condenser in any directions, whether it be the haynes or factory manual... It has to come off to get the radiator out, but nuttin's mentioned.

Usually the trans cooler sits between the condenser and the radiator?

^what he said^ maybe you are mistaking the different coolers for each other? either that or someone screwed with the order they were put in

The order in Mine from bumper to engine (front to back)
1.Trans cooler (smallest, with tranny lines)
2.A/C condenser (with lines direct to compressor)
3. radiator closest to engine.

It sounds like others have the A/c condenser in front? The upper line from the condenser to the compressor only allows the condenser to tilt forward a couple inches, which is a couple to few to slide the radiator out.

Do you think I have an odd ball setup?

Thanks for the help.

My 4.7 has the condenser in front of the rad. No tow package so no cooler. But I think that the cooler would be in front of the condenser and rad cause to me, there's no room to put the cooler between them.

To me this looks like it is an OEM cooler that someone placed in front of the condensor. They are located in between the condensor and radiator as OEM. They might have broken the mounts or just tried to keep the trans cooler so someone relocated it to the other side or they added it from a junker or something.

There are 2 radiators to chose from. One that will have the cooler attached to the reverse side of the raidiator (between the condensor and radiator) and all the hard line already hooked up from the radiator to the cooler then the cooler to the return line back to the trans. THis is the one you will want. You will see a referance like W/cooler or something like that. The with version is a lot more expensive

The one without is cheaper and does not have the backing brackets or cooler attached. This is labled W/O like this one. You could alway install your (or beter one) trans cooler on the front with the little kits you can buy. Concitering you have the tubing already.

By the way, that radiator is in REAL bad condition!

i agree with the radiator being bad, and what happened to the front end of your D to cause the fans to hit each other?
