oopsy

well i have scanned the computer and have three "not complete" codes. i guess i have to drive it around or something... which scares me not yet being insured or registered.

my friend tells me there should be certain criteria that need to be met before everything can be "complete". any ideas?

Get the old gas out and fill with some Premium (chevron) with a drive and PCM reset before having it checked.

well crap.

so i've been driving it around trying to get the computer "complete" on all sensors, and i got down to only the cat being left and it threw P0302 again.

i pulled the plug on #2 this morning and it still looks as though it has never fired a spark! no brown, no nothing, and it's soaking wet with gas.

next i put the plug in the coil and plugged it in and fired up the engine. i get the plug within two inches of a piece of metal and it throws sparks like crazy.

so this means the plug is sparking outside the cylinder but not in the cylinder.... which i assume can only be black magic. anyone else have a clue?

put the plug in the coil and touch the electrode to the BLOCK OF THE ENGINE and turn it over, let us know if it sparks, if not you probably have a loose ground on the engine somewhere, but i would expect that to affect more than one cylinder, but anything is possible.

ALSO: make sure the threads are clean on both the plug and the cylinder where you thread the plug into, if there is enough dirt on it i am sure that it could act as an isulator

Replace the #2 spark plug.

ok so i swapped the plug and got the same results. i have voltage at the top of the coil, and with the spark plug in the coil and close to the block i get crazy spark (like with the old spark plug). i install the spark plug and get P0302 on the reader. i let the engine run at a few speeds for a few minutes and pull the plug only to find it soaking with gas and having absolutely no color to it.

so.... no compression? valve stuck open? this is weird.

EDIT:

alright i lost patience and took it to a dealership (one just down the road). for the low low price of $115 they told me i have a "serious valve problem". the guy said valves, guides, machining, etc.... $3,000.

local 01's are going for between $3,500-$8,000 (classifieds) so i don't know what to do now. i'm not uncomfortable pulling the heads myself.... dammit.
