Default Transfer Case Question

I have a 02 Durango sxt and the 4x4 works fine on the fly going into 4wd but wont dis-engage on the fly with out putting in reverse. Any thoughts ?

sometimes the truck do that, it is not a big deal, but you could try to change the fluid and check to make sure the solenoid motor is not sticking. but most likely it is sticking because of torque on the driveline from going around corners in conditions where you should NOT normally be in 4wd. try engaging it and driving in a STRAIGHT LINE, or on grass/gravel, and then disengage it and see if works, it is most likely just a need for the torque differences btwn the front and rear driveshaft need to be relieved before they will unlock.
