Default Durango Timing Alarm Module

Hi,

First post so I am a noob.

The central timing alarm module went out in my 2003 Durango almost 2 weeks ago now. I'm in the USAF and live in Germany so the part should be here any day now. I have ordered a repair manual but it has not arrived either. I'm trying to find the location of the CTM on my Durango so I can have it ready to swap out when the new one comes in and have found conflicting information.

This thread says it is on the driver's side kick panel.
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ng-module.html

This site says it it located to the right of the glove box.

I'm assuming you all are right and not some generic website but I just wanted to check and make sure before I start the work tomorrow.

Also...this is the first I have heard about having to re-program the part to the Vin #. What is all that about? I'm in Germany and will have a hard time doing that since the Dodge dealers are not plentiful here.

Any help or information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sweet! You're the best.

Now apparently I need to find out how to get the new one programmed over here.

you need to find a dodge dealer and have them do it, they will be the only ones with the scan tool

Right but I am in Germany, I'll have to see if the dealer in Kaiserslautern has the correct tools.

Thanks for the replies.

What will not work if I do not or cannot get this thing programed? Right now we are just driving the vehicle during the day time since the headlights do not work. The Durango is the primary family vehicle so we need it working, it's been like this for 3 weeks now waiting on parts. If it's things like keyless entry that will not work we can live without that. Thanks for all the information.

its just about everything is tied into the CTM, headlights, keyless entry, all the timed lights, the buzzers, i think the turn signals run off of it, the interior lights, im sure there are things that i am missing and i am not 100% sure what kind of programing comes with the unit, if any at all

For whatever reason tonight I thought about just going and unhooking the CTM and letting it sit unattached for 20 min or so. I did this then when I plugged everything back in all the things that did not work now work!!!

I don't know if this fix will last for long or if the things will work in the morning but for now everything is working again. If I would have known where this CTM was located before I would/should have tried that a long time ago. I still have a new one in the mail but will continue to use the old one as long as I can and keep the new one in the car.

I also called the dealer in Tampa where I got the new CTM from ($180) and they said it should not need re-programing. I was going to check and see if that is true when it came in but now I'm going to hold off until the old one craps out again.

I'll report back when/if things change again. This seems like a big topic and until I found this forum I didn't see much info on the topic.
