Obviously my post was read wrong.

I was agreeing with you gr8scott and responding to the other post. Sarcasm is hard to read apparently. And when did you insult me? I don't get insulted... I get even. J/K!

Pete/SS, thanks guys.

thorze, good post. You're exactly right, name brand doesn't always mean better. If there is the same shock technology and quality in a lower cost shock than the Bils, that would be a great find indeed.

HemiDSLT, After only 6 posts. Really? So soon? Name: trout2.gif

Forum posts as well as emails lack emotion and expression so I guess I took it the wrong way. IndyDurango, I though you were questioning my information, I apologize. I realize I'm new here but have been a member of a few forums for 10 years (mostly Mustang forums, I have a 10sec 88 Mustang I owned since new), so I know the drill. In fact I use mostly use the search function to get the information I'm looking for, and when I have something to offer, I try and give back what i know and learned for the next guy.

Sorry OP, hope you found enough info to make your decision.

Ron

Welcome to the forum HemiDSLT the only person you have to watch out for is Hydra, he has the tendency to hit the sauce a little more than usual. There are many great people here in this forum and they are very knowledgeable in helping others. Sorry if I got a lil harsh on you but all things to the side, get to know people here and you will see what I mean.

I'm gonna ressurect this old thread to make a comment: People love to say "search!" to n00bs (like me). But think about this - with every new thread that is created to ask about common subjects, there's a chance that new info is added. Therefore, more info is added to "search" for. Asking questions without searching isn't so bad .

I am currently searching for the best shock for my D which I sometimes use for towing a very heavy Jeep on a 2700# trailer (that's how I found this thread). Haven't found the info yet. And I'll post up a thread asking THAT particular question if ultimately I can't find it in search. Or I get tired of searching. Same ol' question - with a twist.

Oh ... and I'm only a n00b on this forum ...

If you can't find your answer that's different. I would say just get a set of Bliston Shocks and be done with it. They are cheap and good for normal use.

I wouldn't exactly say towing 7k pounds is "normal" use (the Jeep weighs 4800 lbs). So far I've seen many threads that say Monroe Reflex, with (IMO) Bilstein running a close second. But I haven't seen people asking about the ability of either brand to hold up under that kind of work. In your experience, would they?
