Default Painted Wheels

I'm considering painting the stock wheels on the Durango... any advice? I'm going with a black color.

which rims do you have on your truck? (they offered a couple different ones) make sure you do the prep work correctly, and if you use a regular paint you will probably end up repainting them almost yearly if it is a DD, so alot of people add clear on top of the paint, or you could look into getting the powder coated.

whatever you decide make sure to do the prep work right, if you screw up the prep your paint job will NOT COME OUT RIGHT

Powdercoating is the only way to keep them scratch free over the years.

just clean them very well before u start and use some masking tape and paper on the rubber... u would try giving it 3 or 4 hands of a thin coating...

I painted/cleared mine with rattle cans. I didn't spend the extra money getting the powdercoating cuz I plan on getting aftermarket wheels. I'm impressed with how well they're holding up. I know someone who painted his chrome clad black and of course those look like a pile of dog crap now

My D is black, and I'm considering either going with a glossy black, matte black, or a gunmetal color... Which would you choose?

Gun metal. I think the gloss black would be too monochromatic. The matte would be ok if you had other matte parts such as steps, grill guard, etc. to match.

gun metal is a good color, i have been contemplating that as well

i did the wheels on my old cavalier with the duplicolor stuff i cleaned them, scuffed them then cleaned again with rubbing alcohol and sprayed, turned out great

sand down your wheels for a good hour or so on each wheel, until u have nothing but bare metal or alloy.. coat the wheels in a few coats of spray on epoxy primer.. then paint.. you'll get a much better job if you remove the wheel from the rim completely..
