advice please suspension options!?!?!?!
shortly my durango will be getting overhauled new shocks all around t/s lift two new hub bearings and all new fluids plugs etc. my question for you all is as follows. i have an 02 4.7 4wd no that that matters much. i am apprehensive about ordering the new shocks i decided to go with the rancho rs5000 shock because they are readily available with a 2'' longer size my question is will i have to worry about over extending the stock size shocks with the extra two inches from the lift i will be putting on? i am not super familiar with the torsion setup and dont quite know if it would matter or if i should just keep it stock shock size. i am assuming that the rear will be less of an issue. any input would be amazing thanks
Unless your planing on using the D as a rock crawler I think you should have no issues using OEM length shocks. It you fully drop the wheel it stops on the shocks.....IIRC
If I were to buy them I would just go 1" longer.

with a t/s lift & stock shocks the stock shocks will limit travel in the rear. I didn't notice any issue in the front. if it's just to clear tires or for looks stockers are fine, for better off road flex longer shocks are called for. I used the KYB fitment guide & ordered longer ones front & rear mostly so the shock is sitting at the proper stroke. some brands this is significant, Monroe sensa trac for example have to ride at the right height or the function is affected by the valving being in the wrong place, IE fluting in the bore to soften ride at normal & stiffen up when the range is pushed. RS5000's are like this also & will be very stiff if the shorter ones are used.
Personally I have no love for the rancho rs5000 shocks. they ride harsh & are a not a gas charged shock. meaning they don't handle on road very well. And I have not heard of any tales of off road bliss associated with them either. Have heard good things about the 9000 but their pretty spendy by comparison.
