Cmik,
Have you started using the car seats that arnt removable, like the next size up? I used the seat belts for the bases as you described, but when the kids moved into the car seats without the bases, I couldn't get them to work. The bases locked the seat belt in place, because the seat belts themselves were not the locking ones. The
Only new car seats don't have a way to lock the belt itself.

It depends on the type of stationary seat you're talking about. I've seen dozens and dozens. (I once upon a time worked baby store, my department was strollers and car seats, lol.)

But yes, I have been able to place Booster seats and stationary car seats. Let me know what you have, and I can give you a safe way to install.

INFANT Car seats that I have seen (Rear Facing Only, there SHOULDN'T be a forward facing.) can be place in by using a lap belt. If on used on a door side, you can place the lap belt across, and leave the shoulder belt free from the buckle to the pulley. That works great. There are some seats that you can use without the base, and the lap belt goes across the top and through a slot on each side of the car seat. (Rear Facing ONLY) Infant seats are meant to be installed in any vehicle, mounts or not, so long as it has a seat belt. DO NOT RELY ON ANCHORS, though some of the more expensive ones have a good anchor system, they are not all secure or necessarily safe. They are to be used as a secondary mounting.

Convertible Car Seats vary so widely, it is hard to tell you in general how to mount them. They generally come out of the box able to be mounted 2-6 different ways. I must say though, if you're tall or have long legs, having them rear facing can be an issue. (Being that the 1st Gen durango doesn't have much room in the back seat, I cannot have a rear facing car seat behind my seat because I am too tall and have my seat almost all the way back.

You question about locking the belt issue though, are you having an issue with the seat belts moving? I'm not entirely sure what your issue is, but I'm sure if you gave me more information, I could help you out.
