Default 01 Durango front axle replacement

Just wondering if I have to split the upright from the aframes to get the axle shaft out.

I had also heard that when these axles go, they often take the up right with them. That is the axle bearing surface gets damaged. Any truth to that?

Sorry hydrashocker....too much European and race car in this garage.... The upper and lower control arms, where the ball joints reside are 'a-frames'. The 'upright' is the steering control arm by the manual.

I answered my own questions, unbolted the upper ball joint.....had the recall ones put in a while back and it made the axle removal much easier. And the hub assembly was toast too, so have to replace that. $700 cdn retail! And yes I get a jobber rate.

cheers

^ LOL ^

"A-Frames" you are talking about are Control Arms (either upper or lower).

The "upright"????? maybe Steering Knuckle.

Can you take a picture of what you think is bad???? and try to explain what you are trying to do???? Maybe we can help you?
