Default 1999 starts but wont stay running.

Hello, I have a 1999 Durrango and it will turn over fine but will not stay running without giving it gas. Could this be the idle air control valve? Thanks!

it could be that IAC, it could also be a weak battery (believe it or not enough juice to turn the truck over could still be too weak to keep it idling)

Have your battery load tested and you'll probably find you have a cell going bad. These trucks like to have a fully charged battery or they will not run. While you're at it, have the alternator checked for voltage output which should be in the 13.5-14.5 range. Any parts store should do this free of charge.

+1 on that!

If everything is good then clean the TB and clean or replace your IAC.

Hello and thanks, I installed a new IAC which was all gummed up and cleaned the terminals while I was at it, seems as if it is back to running like the day I bought it.
