CB and PA setup
Use channels 1 & 40 or 1& 23 if your really old school. I believe the formula was higher on 1 you raise higher on 40/23 you lower or cut or vice versa. If memory serves right anything 1.5 and below on the meter is good 1.0 is better, .5 is awesome and needle not moving your god. This is with a tuned rig. I used to have an old Cobra 29Ltd Classic in my 83 Isuzu with a Radio Shack antenna that was nicely matched.
Anyway, I found a issue with my CB install because my truck has a Air Bag Module that interferes with output and SWR because of Radio Frequency Interference, TSB 08-32-99. Now it looks to only involve my Ram but you never know.
As for the wiring, I just installed a cigarette lighter adapter and soldered it to the wiring so my CB is easy to remove and it just plugs into my ACC jack. I really need to figgure out some other type installation because in my truck there just isn't any room.
No I'm running the Firestick Dodge mount, a modified regular connection, and a 3 foot Barjan fiberglass antenna so I can still get into the car wash. Now I know it isn't the best but I was having issues with SWR and that is what I ended up with for the best SWR's. Now I know there is a TSB on my rig I will change after the fix maybe to a Wilson to K-40.
First you have to buy a high end full sized radio, then you have to have it tweeked. I have seen some on E-bay and youtube. Google "CB mod". A cobra 29LCD or any full sized radio with weather channels, there are many out there. I don't know all the basics in it as this was years ago I had this one done, but if you can get 50 watts out of a radio with minimal mods then you have done a PERFECT mod. You are better off getting one from a CB shop where you can see the out put, but I have seen some that are ready to go out of the box.
That's not a bad radio, decent price too.. i always stuck with uniden or a cobra..
