Default Trans interchange

I have a 2000 Durango R/T. The trans is shot. Will a Ram 5.9 trans work in my Durango. I have a friend who has a Ram ( I think a 2000 also. Not sure) that the trans is still good. but everything else is trashed (rolled 4 wheeling). But he was going to let me have the trans if it will fit in my Durango. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

They are the same trans. A 46RE if the motors are both 5.9L's.

maybe for the ram and durango. my buddie had a r/t dakota and we dropped the transmission he got a free transmission from the r/t durango (both 5.9s) the transmissions were different the durango's one was abit bigger. both automatics both were from 2001 everything so he had to spend sum money and buy a B&M transimission. loved it untill he gave it to his little sis haha.

there might be a difference in 4x4 vs 2wd but if so it is not much, or he did not have a 46RE in his dakota (but iirc the R/T daks came with it so idk)
