Default Oil Use Problem

I have a '99 Durango with the 5.2, 144,000 miles.

I have been having a problem with oil loss.
I say this because I can't really see any signs of it being burnt.
It'll use a quart over a 300 mile trip. Constant speed on the expressway.
No smoke on start-up whether hot or cold.

I have changed the PCV valve and it seems to have had no effect.
I'm at a loss on this problem.

The only problem I can mention is a spark knock problem once the engine is hot at low rpm's.
Push the throttle down and it'll blow smoke out the exhaust and knock like hell.

I believe I have read a possible remedy to this here in the forum.
It has been suggested that I change out my Bosch Platinum's for Champion Coppers.

Any other ideas?

Look down into the throttle body. Is it oily down there?

Yeah +1, it sounds like the plenum gasket failure. When that gasket fails, it will burn more oil than BP and spark knock like crazy. My Ram is doing that now and I know that I will need to do the plenum gasket on it.

+2, sounds like your plenum gasket is gone
