no you do not need to reprogram for them.

and just a question, why are you getting headers? what kind of build do you have that you need headers? because for most people the stock exhaust manifolds flow fine for all but the more extreme builds

If you want it to run right, do NOT straight pipe anything. Unless stock cat is damaged, it is hi-flow and will result in better having it than not having it. Also, no muffler is redneck. Do it right or don't do it IMHO.

You want coated, mid length. Avoid longs and shorties. Make sure you get the Y-pipe from the provider of the headers.

Want the best? Look for Mike Leach, PPH or Mopar High Performance headers. Each are hard to find, discontinued and the same thing.

oh yea... and headers alone are not the answer.

CAI--->TB--->Headers--->Better Muffler will gain you 50-75HP if all done correctly.

By straight pipe i meant just removing the muffler and not the cat. i did it before and it sounded nice and it ran better but a had to put the muffler back on. so i dont need to reprogram to get it to run good? whats wrong with shorty headers?

you wont need to reprogram unless you start doing major upgrades.. Any upgrade for the D's exhaust system isn't much of an upgrade. On the intake side you can upgrade all the way until the heads.. when you start porting the heads or if you put in a new cam you'll have to reprogram.. The way to reprogram is to send it off the someone that will do it for you (the best option). I think they may have pocket programmers but I've never seen one for the D. Moplar performance may do reprogrammed PCMs or you can find a shop like hughes performance to do it for you.. just search online for a shop that seems pretty decent and stay away from E-bay on the PCMs..
