Default Shorty/long tube headers?

Hey guys got another question about my truck. Its a 2002 4.7l slt+ durango. I was thinking about getting shorty headers but I dont wanna dish out the money for something that will get me no gains.

So I was looking into mainly shorty headers for the easy installation but what i want to know is, is it worth it? Do shorty headers do much over the stock manifolds? I heard they do but some people consider a little a good amount. I dont exactly have a couple hundred bucks to throw around I assume most of you understand that.

I realize shorty headers wont give me 50 horses or somethin crazy. The main reason i would want them is for performance and sound!

What do you guys think? Shorty headers a waste of money or a good investment?

the 4.7 is tuned, built and designed by dodge for the best hp/torque curve, the shorty headers (or any headers really) will not net you any noticable gain without alot of engine work done to it. save your money for later in the trucks life (sorta like im doing)

You can just quit thinking of ways to make your vehicle louder and invest your money in other areas. We have answered all your related questions about exhaust and how loud you can make it. You have a Dodge Durango SLT+ with a 4.7 engine in it. Your Durango was made for creature comfort and not to be made into a loud, fast machine. If you want to go fast and have a louder sounding exhaust, trade off your vehicle for a Durango R/T with the 360 engine. You can mod that engine to do what you want and also make that exhaust as LOUD as you want. Investing thousands of dollars into a 4.7 engine for minimal gains is NOT worth the expense. You want faster take off? Change the gears in the diffs. but then again, your mileage will suffer. I know you are young and want loud things but we have answered every question you have asked in the exhaust department and you can now just go a different route. Your exhaust questions are very exhausting.

Shrpshtr325, yeah i didnt think performance wise that the shorties would do much, just trying to get a second opinion thats not a sales rep at a shop you know?

45autopete, I know what you mean about the exhaust thing, and the whole 4.7l thing but i like my truck and engine just fine. I know if i want better then go with the r/t 360 or an actual car but i like my 4.7 and well...

If you say invest in other areas, what do you think i should do? I know you guys said the partial tranny flush/changing the fliud in the pan and also switching from bosch platinum back to champion copper core. But other than those less expensive things any other ideas?

Also quick question about tire since we are talking about other things.
I have goodyear fortera silent armors. They were sold to my dad before i even had my liscense as the best tire on the market back in 2007. he paid $145 a tire and $776 for certificates and installation. They were warrantied for 70,000 miles and probably wont see monre than 30,000. This was my moms truck so she very rarely had it serviced for tire rotations and i dont think it ever had an allignment. Now my question is do you think goodyear will honor the 70,000 mile warranty? I mean even without an allignment 40,000 miles less than what was promised is a big deal i think.

What do you guys think any ideas, maybe you guys know some trick that'll get them to maybe replace the tire with the same for free or maybe a partial amount of our money returned?

You could try to take em back but being a truck tire they might not warranty them.

we have never bothered trying to warranty tires, they are a wear item and if the tread wear is uneven im sure they will call that as a reason they wore so fast (even if its not true)

im also certain they will LOOK for reasons not to warranty the tires especially since your on the younger side (this is why i always take my father with me if i need to get something, even tho i KNOW what i am talking about they wont jerk you around as much if you have an older adult with you it seems)
